Maranggi

Satay maranggi is specialty satay from Purwakarta, made from beef or mutton. Served with soy sauce which are onions, tomatoes and cayenne pepper so that produce sweet, sour and spicy. And usually served with Nasi Timbel or Ketan Bakar.

The famous satay maranggi in Purwakarta is Satay Maranggi Anwar in Pondok Salam, Satay Maranggi H. Oking in Wanayasa and Satay Maranggi H. Rasta in Cibungur.

So, if you want taste satay maranggi, you must come to Purwakarta.

Bima in Purwakarta

Patung Bima on Jalan Baru

Purwakarta having patung Bima where is placed on Jalan Baru Purwakarta. This is the first big sculpture in Purwakarta who is build by Purwakarta Regent, H. Dedi Mulyadi, SH.

Bima is son of Pandu and Dewi Kunti, he is second child in Pandava’s family. Meaning of his name is “Horrible”. Bima have another name is Wrekodara, means is “stomach wolf” and Bhimasena is means “warlords”.

Bima have character valiant, honest, firm, strong, dashing and considers all people equal. Bima have weapon Gada Rujakpala, Alugara, Bargawa and Bargawasta. Bima also have spell is Aji Bandungbandawasa, Aji Teguglindhu, Aji Bayubraja and Aji Blabak Pangantol-antol.

Bima have son is Anantareja from Dewi Nagagini, Gatotkaca from Dewi Arimbi and Anantasena from Dewi Urangayu.

Peuyeum Purwakarta

Peuyeum is one of specialty souvenir from Purwakarta. Peuyeum is made from cassava and yeast. Peuyeum is very easy to make. First, cassava skin removed and washed then boiled until cooked. After cassava drained and given yeast then let stand 1 night. 

Colenak

Peuyeum tasted is delicious. Besides can be eaten directly, also can made variety foods like fried peuyeum and colenak. Fried peuyeum made from wheat, sugar and peuyeum then is fried. Whereas made colenak is peuyeum flaked and roasted then given unti that is mix from coconut milk, red sugar, sugar and grated coconut.

Simping Purwakarta

Simpings are a specialty of Purwakarta, made from wheat, tapioca, coconut milk  and other spices, then baked. It shape is circle, tasted savory and crunchy.

Flavor of simping is variety, there are galingale, jackfruit, chili, cheese, banana and milk. Because the tasted delicious, savory and crunchy, and cheap between Rp. 7.000 until Rp. 10.000, make a simping as a snack or souvenir.

Producen of simping in Purwakarta is Kaum, Cipaisan, near Alun-alun Purwakarta. If you come from Karawang, Subang or Jakarta, on tol sadang you can ride public transportation no.5, if you come from Bandung you can ride public transportation no.4.

History of Masjid Agung Purwakarta

White domination is coloring Masjid Agung Purwakarta built in 1826 by Syekh Yusuf or Baing Yusuf. The Mosque is located on jalan gandanegara no.1 kelurahan cipaisan kecamatan purwakarta. In period Dutch colonialism and Japanese occupation, Mosque is located not far from Situ Buleud is the only building not occupied by the invaders. This happen because the invaders worried about emergence Islamic movement against invaders if they disturbed function of mosque.

This mosque seem luxurious with two towers located beside right and left mosque and large dome in the middle of mosque. A great watch is placed in front left corner of mosque. In the center there is pulpit that is divided in two. First, where the priest gives sermon. This place like a throne complete with chairs made of teak wood from Jepara, Central of Java. Secondly, the pulpit where the priest led the prayers.

Mosque area 2.285 square meters is experiencing some renovation. the first renovation in 1926 by Ibrahim Singadilaga. In 1955, the mosque was renovated again by Endis, Kian Santang and KH. Mohammad Aop is be "Kasepuhan Kaum". In 1967, this mosque is expanded by adding wing and place of ablution. In 1979, massive renovated mosque, but still retains original shape and artistic value.
